Thanks. Got it this morning after finishing. Only about 45 mins queuing at 11am.Or, you can do what I do, and go the following day, after you have relaxed cleaned up and figured out how you want to spend your time. I always advise folks to book ahead and spend at least two nights at Santiago. It is a magical city with a lot to see.
FYI - Stay away from the Pilgrim Office from 10:00 - 16:00. That is when the queue is the longest and the wait usually exceeds 90 minutes.
In my six-years experience as a volunteer working these queues, my advice is to either be there at or shortly after the 08:00 opening time, 7 days a week; OR come by at dinner time (for everyone except the Spanish), that is from about 5:30 to 7:00 pm. The queue is still present but is generally less than 45 minutes.
