Hi. I am some stage hoping to cycle the Via de la Plata, perhaps in early September. Have read many individuals reports on the route but they have all so far been walkers, can any body please offer any advice?

The route generally follows the direction of the main road from Seville to Leon the N630. For much of the route there are alternative side roads but some are quite a long way off the route. Having said that the road building program in Spain means that some sections of the N630 and the other old main roads are much quieter than they once were having been replaced by an Autovia and there is always a wide hard shoulder.
The path is generally cyclable though on a mountain bike or 26 inch wheeled tourer rather than a road bike and be prepared to carry it from time to time.
Take plenty of water. September can be as hot as August and in the South that is very hot.
