Daily backpack transfer - Lisbon to Porto?

We need to send my wife's backpack onward each day from accommodation to accommodation between Lisbon and Porto and I'm wondering if anyone else has had any success in arranging this. There are several companies providing this service from Porto to Santiago, but not so much up to Porto. Taxi Templarios offers the service between Santarem and Coimbra, but the price is pretty high, like up to €55 per day. I also know there are a few albergues that will arrange transport on a few stages.

I think sending the backpack by taxi might be an option and I'm wondering if anyone has had any success with this. And logistically how does it work?

BTW, I have already arranged daily backpack transfer from Porto to SdC with Tuitrans, and they are very helpful and easy to deal with.

Thanks for any help on Lisbon to Porto!

Rob

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Hi Rob
I walked this route two years ago and I know of some pilgrims who did transport their backpacks by taxi. But this was on an ad hoc basis and I don't know the costs involved. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Maybe someone else will have more information.

I know that several of the owners of the places before Porto had at one point joined together to arrange for transporting packs and helping people cut stages in half if they were too long. Details in the (now very outdated, but probably basically ok) document in Resources “Short Stages from Lisbon.”

I would contact Mario at Santarem Hostel and ask him directly. I met Mario more than ten years ago in Lisbon when the Caminho was just getting started, and he is a great guy and really goes the extra mile for pilgrims.

Bom caminho, Laurie

Thanks for the help. I'll contact our accommodations along the way to see if they have any advice as well.

I would like to walk the river route in Tui next month. I can see on google maps exactly where it starts, but it seems a bit overgrown. Has anybody used this route this year or last year...
Hello, my friend of 50+ years and I are on our first Camino walk. We are looking for: 1) safe, comfortable hostels in Lisbon; 2) stages from Lisbon to Porto (via Tomar) in about 16 days...
Hi I have searched everywhere to see if there is a luggage service from Lisbon to Porto. I know there is from Porto to Santiago, but Lisbon ???. Thanks for any info.
