Deba Albergue Closed Sundays?

Time of past OR future Camino
202?
I’m confused by the information in Gronze and Eroski, which states: “Horario: De abril a septiembre: 10:00-14:00 y 16:00-20:00 (domingos y festivos cerrado por la tarde) / Resto del año: 10:00-14:00 y las tardes de viernes y sábado 17:00-20:00). Si está cerrada atiende la Policía Municipal (tel. 689-12-58-89).”

Not sure if this means the albergue is closed to pilgrims on Sundays, or if it’s open but we have to visit the police department to check in. Anyone had experience with this? Thanks and Buen Camino to all!

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

When we walked this route I chatted with an older gentleman as we entered the town. He explained that you should not go to the albergue directly- but that you had to go to the tourst office, pay the fee, get assigned a bed, and receive a key to enter the albergue. But that they were closed from 12-2 or 2-4, I forget. So we went as advised, got the key 15 minutes before they closed for their break, and all was well.

You have to register and pay at the Tourist office, which is closed all afternoon on Sundays and holidays. On those days you can contact the Police for entry. There is also a hospitalero/a in the albergue, but they don't handle registration or payment.

Thanks Trecile! That was my best guess but wanted to be sure. You’ve saved us some steps!

Yes, do be aware of the seasonal opening times: we were there in October and the only thing available was a tent! We were not prepared with under padding for our sleeping bags so had to pay for the rental of a blanket as a substitute. Perhaps one of the all time worst Camino "sleeps" ever!
