The Haervejen Trail & Der Ochsenweg

…as part of a longer journey to Santiago de Compostela, (winter 2010-Oct 2011) I walked for several weeks along trails in Denmark. My journey was solitary and beautiful. From Hirtshals by the North Sea I walked the beach then headed inland to Viborg. From Viborg I continued along the ancient Haervejen Trail and Ochsenweg to Flensburg and Schleswig. Thanks to all who helped me along this Way.

...5 years on...

The Haervejen Trail has now been extended in two directions with walking and cycling signs from Frederikshavn to Aalborg and from Hirtshals to Viborg. There is a project underway to establish pilgrim hostels along these newer trails.
