Camino Primitivo (2019)
Hey pilgrims!

I'm going to walk the Primitivo starting on the 26th of June, but I am getting a bit worried about the language. I am from CE and my Spanish is non-existent. My English is pretty okay, but I worry about not being able to communicate with the staff in the albergues, random passerbys, in restaurants and in shops / markets.

Has anyone of you created some dictionary I could use for the trip? I have Ivar's guidebook, which is very nice, but still...

Thank you!

Hi!

I assume someone did that! but don´t worry ... you will find a lot of people there that speak English and Spanish ... you won´t have any problem!!

Just don´t forget the most important word: Muchas Gracias!!! -> Thank you very much. Don´t worry about how to pronuce, they will understand you!!

Buen Camino & Ultreia!!

Just one time it is not used:-
If offered a second drink or helping of food you need to nod and say 'Si, por favor' (Yes please). Gracias is understood as 'No thank you' for this..
It is the correct wording when you have sufficient or for all other times you want to say 'Thank you'.

What means CE? central europe?

Along the primitivo locals usually speak castellano, asturiano and gallego. All in all just a modern form of latin, don't worry. Apart from audio, sign language is somehow part of these languages.
Pilgrims come from all over the world, so you will hear the central european languages, like french, german, english with a wide range of accents, dutch ... and some of these latin "dialects".

Take an offline app like dict.cc to look for some words in the wilderness and use google translator while online. The translation might not be 100% correct, but it's fun.

You can make Spanish available offline in Google translate on your mobile so always 'on tap'

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.
