Oh dear, it looks as if I'm excluded from the Camino's circle of family and friends! Is discrimination on the grounds of (eye) colour permitted on this forum? Regards from a green-eyed girl.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Hi - if you have red blood and process glucose into energy, you and I are mitochondrial related, all of us are of Gaian descent .. we are cousins, so hello and Buen Camino to you!!!

Next time out on Camino give an extra hug to your other mitochondrial DNA pilgrim cousins!

Sure, RickM, we are all humans but that isn't the point - (the actual 'point' was humour you know ;)) also, there is no such thing as 'Gaian descent' - Gaia doesn't exist, it is not a living entity that breeds it is just a modern post-hippy name for the planet we live upon, Earth. (I was having supper with Lovelock's son and wife a while back and he told me that his Dad was furious that he had been misinterpreted, misquoted - he said that the whole earth acted in a similar way to a living organism and the post-hippies and off-gridders immediately changed it to him saying that the planet was a living organism - upset him quite a lot!). - oh, unless you meant Ghanian descent?
- but all that aside, my (attempted) humorous point was that there was a genetic mutation a few thousand years ago in Europe that produced, for the first time, blue eyes - and all those with blue eyes are descended from that one person, that first mutation - it is that mutation that makes us a 'small club' within the species, we are all directly related to that first blue eyed person and each other - so we blue eyed pilgrims could greet each other as 'close' relatives (and now we find that a number of us blue-eyed folk are left-handed too!!).

But Rick, it isn't meant to be serious, no one should feel left out, there are plenty of other mutations - go red hair for one - it was merely an attempt to raise the kindness and humour level of the forum, which seems to me to be going through a difficult patch at the moment. xx

p.s. now! a blue eyed red haired freckled left hander? That was me (until I went grey) - I am Scot parented which explains it - any more out there????

But Rick said:
And it was very kind of you to extend honorary membership of the blue-eyed brigade to non-mutants! Inclusiveness rules, ok?

I have brown eyes and my grandparents were from Italy. I know I have European roots even without beautiful blue eyes. ( I purposely married a blue eyed man!) :)

I have green eyes, and both my siblings had blue eyes--very pretty eyes--and the majority of my cousins (about thirty of them) have brown eyes!

So glad to have my eyesight, since I've inherited a genetic tendency to come down with mascular degeneration, or something like that....in other words, I better start counting my steps, etc.

Hey @David , does it count if I have blue eyes (right handed though) when walking under that vast blue skies of Meseta or Tierra de Campos? Or when I'm really happy and in love?
Otherwise green might them be when feeling melancholic. Or even grey. I guess at night :D

Can I (partly) qualify, pleeeease?!

Your posts always bring smile to my face, thanks for that one! :)

My (very) blue eyed daughter (the other has brown eyes) studied anthropology and was amazed that we (I donated the blue eyed gene) blue eyed babes actually started out in . . . . Turkey! A mutation in our OCA2 gene (and yes, I had to look it up) some 10,000 years ago started it all off - isn't science amazing?

Blue eyed yes me too, but right handed not left, that means you will hug to my left and I to your the right perfeccc. It's important to pay attention to a hug!

Interesting statement, but I’m not sure how accurate it is. I would need to do some more research on this topic. I don’t have blue eyes, but this had always been my dream. All my family members have brown eyes, and this frustrated me for some years. I just love people with green or blue eyes. They always look so good in my opinion. Luckily, there is the option of eye contacts. Recently, I bought my first blue color contacts pair from https://coleyes.com/collections/blue. I am absolutely in love with my new look. I think I am going to keep buying these contacts. However, I know it’s not that good for the eye, but I am going to phase out wearing them, so I think I should be fine.
