Do you need poles? Shoes or Boots? Photographic evidence.

Let me start by saying that I know and have seen some people who can happily walk through mud and up and down steep slopes in running shoes or sandals and also that there are some people find they solve their foot problems by ditching their boots and wearing shoes . . . and if you are one of these then please don't take offence . . .

BUT IF YOU ARE UNSURE WHICH TO TAKE and if you are like me and initially bought some shoes for the trip thinking boots would be too hot . . . then do look at these pictures of the paths we had to climb up, down and through this summer in France. I was just SO pleased that at the last minute I had bought a pair of boots . . . my companion who had taken shoes (as I had originally recommended) fell over several times and twisted her ankle! Ouch!
