Dogs attack outside St Privat

Frances hope to do Le Puy to St John Pied Porte 2015
Just want to warn of dangerous dogs about 1k out of St Privat.
My wife was attacked and was badly bitten blood poured out. 3 collie dogs were involved. Would urge extreme caution.

Very sorry this happened to your wife, and it must have traumatised you too. I hope you are both getting over it and able to enjoy the rest of your walk. It is pretty unusual to have dogs attach pilgrims but I guess the VĂ©zeley route is less travelled than most so landowners may be less likely to have their dogs restrained. It would be good if you can take the time to notify the police and the local Amis de St Jacques (even when you get home) of what happened, with as much location information as possible. They may be able to identify and talk to the owner of the dogs.
 
I think BobMar left from Le Puy en Velay, so he is speaking of St. Privat d'Allier.

There are more loose dogs in France than Spain in my experience. I have had to deal with about a dozen over the years. Spanish authorities apparently enforce "leash laws" more diligently to preserve the pilgrim trade.
