Doing the Camino in a wheelchair

A friend of mine uses a wheelchair and is thinking of doing the Camino de Compostela. I would like to make contact with someone who has done the camino - or parts of it - in a wheelchair to get advice. 8)

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
I met a young man in Arzua a couple of years ago who had started from Pamplona. He had a proper 'touring' chair and his wife was seconding him from a campervan. They often parked next to the albergues so that they could use the showers and cooking facilities but would sleep in the van at night. I'm not sure where you would make contact with a wheelchair pilgrim but a couple helped to prepare the guide for people with disabilities on this website:

In 2000 Mr. Ad Hermans went from Akersloot, Holland, to Santiago in a handbiked wheelchair, 2550 km:

In 2002 he went off again, this time to Rome, 2250 km:

He was accompanied by his wife, her sister and brother-in-law, and a couple friends, all on bicycles. On their way they camped.
The second url has the possibility to make contact with Ad by email
