Where to Find Affordable Trekking Poles in Porto or Tavira

I’m spending a few weeks with non- walking friends in Tavira and Porto. Thinking I’ll take off for a couple of days on the Camino. Does anyone know where I could pick up a pair of cheap or donated poles in either place? Thanks.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.

You are more likely to find donated poles where people are finishing their Caminos than where people are beginning them. So unless you want to detour to Santiago before beginning, cheap is what you are more likely to encounter than donated. I picked up a pair of cheap poles at the Decathlon in Porto. There was another sporting goods store that sold poles as well (not a chain) but it was closed on Sunday when I was looking for them.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
We are coming in from San Francisco, CA and starting in Porto on May 9, would love to find some used walking sticks/hiking poles either in Lisboa or Porto for our walk to Santiago where we hope to donate the hiking poles to the Pilgrim House in Santiago. Please advise. Thank you.

Not too likely to find any in Tavira. Very few walkers in the Algarve, other than those who live there, I suspect. Nearest Decathlon is Faro:

Address:

Rua Eng. Nuno
Abecassis

Decathlon sells them individually with prices running from 8-10€ and up. Perfectly adequate poles for Camino hiking.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
