Camino Frances (Aug 2011) Camino Frances (Sept 2013) Portugeuese Coastal Camino (July 2018)
I start my Portugeuse Coastal Camino on the 4th July - I arrive in Lisbon at 7 at night and being a woman on my own, would prefer to book somewhere within easy reach of the airport and then leave on my journey the next day.
Does anyone know of any well-priced accommodation ? ( Also, how you got there from the airport) - I am feeling a bit anxious about my journey and feel it might be helpful to know that my first night is booked and sorted!
Thanks

Hi Durbansue
The airport isn't far from the Lisbon city centre. Being a woman alone it may be better to take a taxi. I learnt some Portuguese and found a bus that goes on that popular tram route but that was during the day. It wasn't much cheaper than a taxi. Not sure whether you want to stay in a hostel. There is one called "Home" that is well situated. We stayed at "This is Lisbon" which was good but a bit far up a hilly area. Good luck and Bom camino!

Hi Sue, if you go into booking.com and look at the map near Lisbon airport, you will see several hostels within walking distance of the airport. Decide which one suits you best, then either book it via booking.com, or google the name to find their own website and book with them directly.

7pm is not late in Lisbon, and the area around the airport is quite safe for you to walk. They are nice residential streets.

In the morning you can continue walking along the main street, away from the airport, to Oriente, where you can pick up the camino as it goes through the Parque das Nacoes.

But if you want to start from Lisbon cathedral, you can get the metro, or a bus, or a train into the city centre. Your hostel host will tell you the best way.
Bom caminho!

Hi again Sue, another option, which I’m going to be doing in October, is to get the airport bus

https://www.aerobus.pt/en-GB/Home-2.aspx

into the city centre, and get off at Marques de Pombal. There are lots of places to stay around there.

Then next morning you can walk down the main Avenida Liberdade to the cathedral.
