Hi it’s been a long time since I have walked the Camino or been on this forum.
my partner and I are hoping to start walking from Porto in good Friday.
Are there any disadvantages to starting the walk on Good Friday? Is the cathedral open to get our passports? Will we be able to find somewhere to stay? Are the Albergirs open? Any advice please

Easter is a busy holiday weekend and Good Friday is a public holiday. That will mean closures of some shops, restaurants etc. But albergues will be open as will most accommodation. The cathedral will be open but though I don't know the specifics it is likely to be busy with people and services. I would suggest trying to get a credential/passport before you go if you can just to relieve pressure. I haven't walked over Easter but I have over other holidays and it's wise to carry a little extra food just in case as even shops/bars etc that are open can have odd opening hours

I second the advice on carrying a bit of food in case shops/cafes are closed due to weekends or holidays. That said, we walked the CF last year and pilgrim services (food, lodging, etc) were fully available during Holy Week. My guess is that you may in fact be behind the “bubble” of pilgrims attempting to reach Santiago on Easter Sunday.

I would like to walk the river route in Tui next month. I can see on google maps exactly where it starts, but it seems a bit overgrown. Has anybody used this route this year or last year...
Hello, my friend of 50+ years and I are on our first Camino walk. We are looking for: 1) safe, comfortable hostels in Lisbon; 2) stages from Lisbon to Porto (via Tomar) in about 16 days...
Hi I have searched everywhere to see if there is a luggage service from Lisbon to Porto. I know there is from Porto to Santiago, but Lisbon ???. Thanks for any info.
