Greetings,
I walked the Camino Frances for SJPDP in September of 06 and am excited to be returning to Spain in April to walk again with my father. He has talked about my journey nonstop for the past four years- I think it best to have his own journey to remember.
My dad is now 73 and has Parkinson's disease. He will be able to walk about 10-15km a day. We will have 6 days to be on the Camino.
I am thinking to start in Ponferrada and use both our feet and a bus according to how he feels and how much time we have. He would like to walk for at least a few days. I would like him to see villages like Villafranco del Bierzo and O Cebreiro but I know the up hill hiking will be difficult for him. Can we walk a few days along that section of the Camino, bus further along until Palas del Rei and then continue our walking from there? Finally, do any towns around that areas do anything special for Semana Santa, in particular, Easter Sunday. My father would love to see a procession like they do in Sevilla and hear some choir music. Any suggestions on how we can make this trip work would be most appreciated!
Buen Camino!
