This albergue has been mentioned very favorably elsewhere on this forum, but I just wanted to recommend taking the route less traveled from Leon to Hospital del Orbigo and staying at El Pajar de Oncina. On my most recent Camino trip, after flying to Madrid from the US, I took the bus to Leon where I had last left off. As I do each time, I wanted to start with a short walk on basically no sleep and being January my options were limited. El Pajar de Oncina is 10km from the Leon bus station. I reserved via WhatsApp text to Olga. When my Camino friend and I arrived just after sunset Manuel opened the door. What a nice couple Olga and Manuel are! Olga fixed a delicious dinner of Leonese soup, an egg and veggie scramble (revuelto de verduras), and pork loin with adobo. The bunk room was excellent as was the shower. Manuel's music studio just off the cute courtyard is a must see. Self serve breakfast was included. One of my favorite albergues so far!
