IMPORTANT NUMBERS:

The Camino is generally a very safe place for pilgrims. However, accidents and emergencies happen. Please put these numbers into your phone or notebook. Before calling, try to identify your location from a guidebook or by asking others.

112 - this is like 911 in the USA and is a GENERAL EMERGENCY number. They answer even if you have no credit on your phone. Request clearly and slowly if you need an operator who speaks English.

091 - National Police

061 - Health Emergencies

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Great info - but the only number you really have to memorize in Europe is 112 from there you will be re-directed (if necessary) to the emergency service you need and they do speak English.
