I will be doing th Camino Portugues during May, starting in Lisbon.
I will like your advise on wether or not to take a sleeping bag. Actually I have a 5 degree sleeping bag liner but I checked the weather forecast for May and it seems to be cold.
For those that have walked the Camino Portugues during May and stayed in the Albergues would you recommend to take the sleeping bag or the sleeping bag liner will be enough.

I'm doing the Camino from the French way starting mid-may and I am bringing a light +15 sleeping bag.

Elizabeth. My wife andI walked from Lisbon in May. On the Portugese caminho is no reason to take a sleepingbag with you.
Most places to sleep are hostals and privat albergues which have about the same character as hostals.
Arriving in Spain there are Xunta albergues in most places which supply blankets.
A silk liner will be enough.
In the morning it can be chilly so you can dress up in layers. A fleecevest can be important to take with you aswell decent rainware.

Advice above seems to indicate no need for a bag unless you are a really cold in bed person. I have walked the Frances from ST Jean twice at the start of May with only a silk liner. Wear more clothes to bed if necessary.

A really cold in bed person ! Take your partner with you (and let him/her carry your sleeping back ! )

Hi @Elizabeth Alvarez , I walked in May last year from Lisbon. I think I probably only used my sleeping bag once between Lisbon and Porto ( in Alvorge I think). But from Porto onwards I probably used it every night. I wasn't aware of junta albergues supplying blankets. I like sleeping options, and would always err on the side of caution. That said, my bag was extremely lightweight and down filled. Please take a look at my blog if you think it will be useful. It details my stages and accommodation used - see link below.

Actually on reflection, I used my bag 3 or 4 times before Porto and the weather was particularly warm during the day.

My walk was late May/early June and I think there were two or three nights that I felt it was a bit too warm with my sleeping bag. I don't recall that many places that had blankets, but I was along the coast for half the walk. I used a light weight down bag.

I am bringing a sleeping bag liner and a cashmere shawl/blanket. I will be walking from Lisbon to Santiago/Finisterre" starting in March.
