Hi Folks,

I've been trawling online for hours without success. Maybe someone can help?

I'm looking for a phone charger for my Samsung s22 Ultra, but the european plug version.
Ideally with dual power outlets.

Why a Euro plug? It just saves carrying adapters for my Oz charger.
Why 2 outputs? I have 4 things to charge. The phone daily, powerbank daily, and every 3-4 days, a wireless video mic Rx & Tx.

Could be either USB C outputs or USB A.
I think most these days would be USB C.

Any techies out there who have an idea where I might find one?

Samsung OEM preferred, but any reputable brand should be OK.

Any thoughts on where to find one most appreciated.

I had some luck with a Google search using
euro type-c charger -adapter

It brought up several products that are on Amazon. You'll have to check for them at its Oz site though.

I took a screenshot to show what terms you might try searching for if you don't like these products. You can see I asked that the search exclude the term adapter. It used it anyway but, while the product description says they are adapters, you can see they are not.

The plug type you are looking for is called a Type C or sometimes Euro. That makes searching for a charger miserable because of confusion with USB-C. That's why I added the term euro to my search.

Also, before I forget, you could try calling some shops at the airport to see if they have something for you and others headed to Europe. But buying one there may cost more than your flights.

If you need more help just ask.

You are paying a lot for that second slot. Lost my single output Euro charger on a recent Camino and have ordered 2 single replacement chargers for about €8. One to charge the phone and the other to charge a multiple outlet (A, mini, C) powerbank when away from an outlet.

Robo, if you have a VPN that you can use to fake your location you might get better search results for Euro-plug chargers if you place yourself in the EU. Then if you find a few models that meet your needs you could search for the same model numbers or UPCs near you.

Just a guess. I hope it works.

Hey Robo,

I think you can find RAV Power adapters in Aussie. They are well regarded and put out enough power fir fast charging a couple devices.

I got this one from Lencent on Amazon which plugs into Euro sockets, has three USB and one USB-C connection and a UK plug adapter too (which I guess you won't need!) https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08FX1FPGR/?tag=casaivar-21 It's a little bulky because of the UK socket, but worked well for me. There's a lot available, but there are so many different potential combinations of sockets it can be hard to find the right one.

Beware the smallest, lightest and cheapest Euro double-USB adapters; they can get quite hot and fail as a result. I even saw one melt!
I have used an iGo block shaped version for the last few trips, which has proved reliable, though there is a 75 gram weight penalty over the smaller ones.

Hi Robbo

Have been using a Lifetron 4 USB port travel adapter on our CF. Works perfectly for phone, headlamp and earphones (noise cancelling).

Also brought with me an Anker power/battery which I have dutifully carried and charged, without ever using. All the public (and private) albergues seem to have an abundance of power points. Most offering your own individual point.

As another thought I have seen Korjo offering them (4 USB port) for about $25 at Sydney International.

Hope this helps and buen camino.

PS grab some light gloves (it’s cool of a morning over here) and bring an S hook and dry sack (about a shopping bag size) to put your stuff in while you’re having a shower.

I know you are walking the VDLP in 2023. If you don't want to stress if you have a couple of days in Sevilla why not go into a FNAC they have everything and the staff in the stores I have been in are really helpful.

You want a universal travel charge that has swappable mains connector.

I order these from the Amazon France site for delivery to me in the UK but they might not ship to Oz; your best option might be to buy when you get to Europe, there are tech shops all over the place these days. You'll not go wrong with Anker. Good Luck.

Yes, always an option. I might go and have a look there.
I might just take my single output....and see what they have.
Though I have plenty of time before going, so would rather have all my gear with me.
Don't want to waste sight seeing or eating time going shopping! 🙂

@Robo, l now have a small collection of these. One approach is the travel adaptor with several USB ports. My wife recently bought one with a USB-C port, but is travelling, so I cannot give you details, but she did get it from Amazon, and it was delivered within a couple of days. It claims to meet the common standards certification body standards, including having flat prongs compliant with the current Australian electrical safety standards. It has three USB-A and a USB-C output.

My other approach is to have a power supply with Type C prongs. Currently I have one from Schneider, but there are many of these. I bought this a couple of trips ago to give me both a high power option for fast charging, and a USB-C port.

I am less enamored with adaptors where one has to physically swap out the plug with the different prong types. In the past I have found it too easy to misplace the plugs that aren't currently in use on the device. If you are good at keeping track of small parts like this, it might be a good option for you. It isn't for me :)

Good luck with your search.

ps, the Schneider two port (USB-C 20W, USB-A) weights 58 gm. The no-name four USB-A (3.4A max, 2.4A max for each individual port) weighs 126 gm.

I definitely agree with you. Sevilla is a beautiful city and before and after I walked the VDLP last year I loved just walking the streets. A couple of years ago I lost my charger and went to FNAC and just bought a European charger that was a rapid recharge. I was in and out of FNAC in less than 15 minutes. I obviously only use this charger on the Camino but it does work great and it was a very reasonable price.

I use thin band of duck tape to attach my very small european adapter plug to my american USB charger before landing Madrid. Haven't lost an adapter in 10 years

That's a great approach if the USB charger is all you have to deal with. My CPAP power supply has different plugs that click in and out of the body of the power supply. Depending on where I am travelling, I need to connect to Types A, C, G and I, and possibly E and F, sockets. When I am on the Camino, I could minimise this to carrying Types C and G plugs, the latter so I can visit my son in England afterwards and assuming I am not going to have an overnight stop somewhere along the way home. Where I have had similar arrangements with phone chargers in the past, sooner or later one of the detachable plugs decides to extend its stay somewhere or other, clearly without my permission!

So I have found the easier way to deal with this is have a travel adaptor/USB charger, and that allows me to take only one plug for my CPAP power supply, no matter where I am going. In some cases, not on the camino, I will also take an Australian power board as well, particularly when my wife and I travel together, when we seem to have many more appliances to deal with.

Just buy one when you get there, you will easily find one in any department store or phone/electronics shop or bodega where you get your sim. Much easier to do in Spain.

I bought this for our our current walk on the Chemin d’Arles. It supports fast charging protocols has 2 usb C and 1 A. The built in foldable plug is US but the included euro Adaptor is very clever and compact and stable. It’s from a brand I’ve never heard of and I bought it from the online retailer that shall not be named but it has worked great. Buen Camino.

Jaycar has a 'Dual USB Mains Travel Charger'. The different plug configurations snap on and off, so you can just take the one you need. I've used it when travelling, works well.
