Valerie and I have booked Chudleigh (Devon) parish church for the afternoon / early evening of 14th November for a 'Pilgrimage Event'.
There is a comfortable 'Fellowship Area' at the back of the church complete with a small kitchen and toilets so it is user friendly. There will be some local support as people want to see where I have been and what a 'pilgrimage' was like so I will be showing slides. We were thinking of a
programme starting with tea/coffee at 2.30. Slides / talk beginning 3.00 followed by a discussion
and a 'Bring and Share' tea. Depending on those present, the discussion would I hope, include some future planning for a local walk / pilgrimage next year. We live on the old pilgrim route to the ports of the South West: Buckfast Abbey and Plympton Priory were known stopping places for mediaeval pilgrims. A walk ending at Buckfast Abbey for Vespers on the eve of St. James's Day would appeal to me and I think could easily be arranged. The problem with living beyond Bristol is the distance we have to travel to join in other events. Why not do our own!
Any 'profits' will be for the CSJ Albergue at Miraz.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
Hi,
are there any contact details where we might get more information? My 79 year old grandmother would love to do the Camino but is no longer up to it, but she lives very close to Buckfast and a walk like this in the spirit of the Camino would really appeal to her.
Thanks

Hi Whallyranger,
I will send you a PM with a phone number. If your grandmother is near Buckfast it is only a few miles from our home in Chudleigh and we would love to be in touch.
If anyone else wants details just send me a Private Message.

Blessings

good luck with your event.
I have many happy memories of Chudleigh,I used to attend a monthly folk club in what I believe was the village hall with skittle alley in the early 80's-happy days.

I was looking at the wisepilgrim app for the Frances route and noticed that the distances don't always add up from one side to the other. Has anyone else noticed this? Am I being overly observant...
