I am reading the book "Great Westward Walk" & felt the need to share a small bit:

"One of the keys to our success undoubtedly the detachment we maintained at all times, based on complete individual freedom. Neither of us interfered in the others behavior or manifested manias or vices, provided they did not seriously affect our common purpose."
I believe this book hits many marks. I really appreciate Rebecca Scott translating it.

I am looking forward to reading it, but of the two books I requested for my birthday 9/9, I received The Moorish Whore, by @Rebekah Scott.

When I return from Spain in later October, I will read it.

There are so many great quotes from this wonderful book. From the hilarious ones about snoring, to those on the deeper nature of his pilgrimage.

I'm on the Camino del Norte at the moment and I had breakfast today in Zumaia, the starting point of the journey documented in The Great Westward Walk. It felt appropriate to order an espresso AND a cafe con leche, as Antxon did each morning!
