Hello,
I am planning on walking the Camino in September but will be arriving with extra luggage from a 4 month trip. If I leave from Le Puy or any of the starting points in France can I send my stuff onto Santiago? Does anyone know the best spot to start if I do have this extra bag? Thnaks, emma

It seems that the Post Office in Santiago no longer keeps parcels for longer than two weeks before sending them back to the place they were posted from. You might have to post stuff to yourself in France first and then perhaps to Burgos, Leon and Santiago.

Here's a list of places along the le Puy route and the Camino Francés, with postal codes, 2 or three days apart taken from the CSJ UK website:

Poste Restante - France
43000 le Puy-en-Velay
48120 St Alban-sur Limagnole
48260 Nasbinals
12190 Estaing
12320 Conques
46100 Figeac
46160 Marcilhac-sur-Célé
46000 Cahors
82200 Moissac
32700 Lectoure
32100 Condom
40800 Aire-sur-l'Adour
64190 Navarrenx
64220 St Jean Pied-de-Port

In France, you'll be charged €0.50 (i.e. the cost of a standard stamp) per item that you collect from
Collection in Spain is free.

Lista de Correos
31080 Pamplona (Navarra)
31100 Puenta la Reina (Navarra)
26080 Logroño (Navarra)
09080 Burgos
24080 León
24700 Astorga (León)
24400 Ponferrada (León)
27600 Sarria (Lugo)
15780 Santiago de Compostela (A Coruña)

Hi, Emma,
Another option would be to make a reservation with a hotel in Santiago and ask them if you can send some stuff ahead. That would eliminate all of the picking up and re-sending along the Camino. We did that once, sending things from Pamplona to the Parador in Santiago, and there was no problem. Laurie

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Why not just post it home - once you get to Santiago all you need at the most is a credit card and your plane ticket home - no real need for fancy clothes

Hi Elena

There are definately left luggage facilities at Madrid airport as it is combined with the lost property office and when I had my bag stolen at the airport it was one of the places I was told to check out in case it had ended up there after the valuables were removed..

Sorry can't help with regards to prices etc but perhaps the airport website has more info?

Regards, Laura

I suggest just confirming how long you can leave luggage at the airport, there might be a limit of how many days....
