Hey Pilgrims. I presently am arriving @ Heathrow at 6:50 am. I did get a tix on AF to paris, then easy jet to Biarritz arriving at 1630. Do I make a mad dash to get to StJpp. Seems like I have a lot of wait time, connecting flights were not my friend! Buen Camino!

This thread discusses how to get from Biarritz Airport to Saint Jean Pied de Port (SJPdP). You'll have to search out the schedule for your date of travel and do your own time appreciation on whether its possible.

Most days the last train to SJPdP leaves Bayonne at 1806. The 1658 #14 bus gets you there at 1738. The 1721 gets you there at 1800 ... with 6 minutes to get oriented and buy your ticket.

Try #C bus (or taxi) 1712 - 1729 Anglet Airport to Gare Biarritz and 1745 - 1755 TER #61 train from Biarritz to Bayonne.

----------

Biarritz Airport is the closest airport to SJPdP.

Chronoplus #14 from Airport to Gare de Bayonne

SNCF TER Aquitaine. Train service from Gare de Bayonne to SJPdP #62. Sometimes train service is replaced by a bus that operates on the same schedule with the same stops using the same tickets. Note the station name is 'Saint Jean Pied de Port' ... the website does not recognize 'SJPdP'.

A section of the tracks between Cambo les Bains and SJPdP was washed out in Spring 2014 and subsequently was repaired November 2015.

Alternatives are:

Transport64 - Bus service from Gare de Bayonne to St Palais #811. St Palais to SJPdP #810.

Express Bourricot, based in SJPdP, offers 'person transportation' service to and from Biarritz Airport as well as any other location in the region. This service is essentially a private hire taxi and must be arranged in advance. The cost goes down as the number of passengers goes up.

Biarritz Airport Transfers, based in Biarritz, provides taxi and transfer service from Biarritz Airport to SJPdP.

Note: it is possible to take Chronoplus bus C from Biarritz Airport to Gare Biarritz then take an SNCF train from Gare Biarritz to Gare Bayonne. This is faster than Chronoplus bus 14 from Biarritz Airport to Gare Bayonne though bus 14 runs more frequently than the train ... if you are on tight timings it might work.

Another option for arrivals short of time is to take a taxi to Cambo les Bains and intercept the SNCF TER service to SJPdP from there.

ALSA operates buses from San Sebastian to Gare Bayonne (TGV Bayona) via Biarritz Airport. ALSA provides service from San Sebastian to SJPdP via Biarritz Airport on a seasonal basis (summer only).

Use the SNCF station sites to get oriented before you travel.

Yes, it seems like you have a long day ahead of you.

For future reference, and for anyone else arriving at Heathrow, there are several flights a day to Bilbao, the first at 08.30am. This enables you to catch a bus to Pamplona at 13.00, arriving 15.00, and you have a couple of hours to explore Pamplona before getting the 17.30 bus to SJPdP.

You might consider taking the airport bus (as listed in WW's post above ) to Bayonne. Spend the night near the Bayonne station; one simple handy place is the Monte Carlo facing the station. Next morning take the local TER train from Bayonne to SJPdP.

Bon voyage and Buen camino

I don't think it's a mad dash - with carry-on luggage and a taxi to the train station in Bayonne, if needed, I'd be confident of getting to SJPP that evening

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
I used to live in Bayonne, and there was a Ryan air flight from stanstead to Biaritz. As far as I know Ryan air still flies there very cheaply.
