feeling smug

Time of past OR future Camino
Francés (2004.SJPP-SdC-Finisterre)(1998-2012 completed in sections). Norte (2006.122km) Inglés (2009)
I'm sorry I can't help it.

In 2004 I walked the Camino Francés all the way from SJPP to SdC to Finisterre despite the diabetes.

I have just returned from doing León to Sarria and at O Cebreiro I completed the CF a 2nd time, though in sections. With heart, kidney and neuropathy issues - as well as the diabetes - I feel overjoyed and privileged to have done this a second time.

There were times of struggle but I would like to say that over the 8 sections I have been wonderfully strengthened by the friendship and companionship of so many people - locals and pilgrims - and it has been a deeply moving experience.

For those of you contemplating setting out for the first time, grab the moment and hit The Way.

I was wondering what had been keeping you quiet lately. Well done. I think you are justified in being a little smug about your achievement.

Well done! The forum has missed you. Buen Camino! :D

I really like this. I am happy you have shared so others who have not yet walked may find inspiration from your Camino. What a great contribution you make. Thank you. Not smug...fulfilled!

"He who would valiant be
'Gainst all disaster,
Let him in constancy
Follow the Master.
There's no discouragement
Shall make him once relent
His first avowed intent
To be a pilgrim"

I definitely think it's your song and if you haven't got it as your ring tone yet..........
Well done and welcome back.

Congratulations and blessings to you, my brother! You have achieved something that even the healthiest person would have times of difficulty with and few attempt. Your footprints are now imprinted for a second time on the CF pilgrimage route. You have my respect, for sure!!!

thank you all for your support and kind words.

I hope to undertake Sarria to SdC then on to Muxia next year and that may have to be it.

Exhaustion + the cost of travel insurance is beginning to put the Camino out of my reach.

But I will always be grateful to Deborah Cowley and the Reader's Digest for telling me about the Camino in 1997 before it became too late to undertake this journey.

"Overjoyed and privileged" is also to us the quintessence of our Camino to Santiago (Sept./Oct. 2012)

Congratulations!! You have earned the right to be a bit smug :D

I think "Blessed and Highly Favored" is much more appropriate!
