Time of past OR future Camino
Starting the Camino Frances 20th May 2018.
Dear fellow Camineros . About 4 months ago I set off from St.JPP in my attempt to try and walk the first 6 stages of the Camino.
I will never forget the first day. It took me more than 8 hours walking to get over the hill.
I had a few issues like using replacement knees and shoulders plus a wrist held together with a titanium plate and screws.
My reason for this post is that I would like to now try and walk from Sarria to Santiago over a period of 6 or 7 nights. My reasoning is try and finish the end section and then if I am able to keep going back and eventually join up the start and finish.
I’m in my 70’s and not sure how much longer I can keep going.
Now my request.
Can anyone please suggest hotels that I can stay in on my trip. My son will most likely accompany me to keep an eye on me !
Any help would be appreciated. Thinking of the 3rd week in October.
Many thanks.

A selection of Camino Jewellery
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
I'd suggest Booking.com. Not knowing your budget or distances ... You can map the 100k and view the lodging in your projected town on-line to make your choices. No guarantees, but with photos, prices, and ratings you should find a comfort level. Good luck with your health and keep mov'in!

Archie, first, congratulations and "keep on going" you're doing great! I completed the Camino (solo) at a young 73, a couple of years ago and had a wonderful time, also with a bum kneee, this and that. Regarding lodging, most alburge's have private rooms (with bathrooms) you can rent for the night at very modest prices. If that does not suit you, there are pension's to provide yet another option, again, at modest prices. Happy Trails

Hi, Archie,

First of all CONGRATULATIONS for that 8 hours. I did it in almost the same amount of time (being 41 y/o!!!) although I have to admit that I spent an hour drinking beer at Orisson ;)

Above info is good. Both Booking and Gronze are giving you plenty of private accommodation options (some with restaurants attached) for you and your son.

Buen Camino!

Thanks very much for all your replies and suggestions. I’m working on my plans right now.

After more than 1 year and a number of visits I finally managed to get to Santiago in early June 2019.
The feeling was one of loss that the journey was over.
It was only when I got home that I realised that I had to get back and do another Camino.
Accordingly I am hoping to walk the Portuguese Camino.
Because of my medical issues I need to stay in en-suite accommodation.
Any personal recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
I’m not sure if I am going to start in Lisbon or Porto.
Many thanks
Archie

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Hi! I’m setting up a trip for late September. I have 2-3 weeks. How long did your trek take and how did you get back to the airport?
