I am starting my primitivo camino tomorrow morning from Oviedo at 8:00 from the cathedral. Where can I get my first sello (stamp)? Will the cathedral be open? It is close now (16:00). When I did the Portuguese route, I got it from the cathedral in Porto.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

According to their website the Cathedral is closed on Sundays other than during services. There is a Mass at 18:30 at which it may be possible to obtain a sello or the signature of the Sacristan. Otherwise your accommodation or any bar, cafe or other business will have a sello by which, with signature and date you can prove your presence in Oviedo this night.

I got my sello from the main pilgrim albergue called El Salvador de Oviedo.
Address is Calle Leopoldo Alas, 20.

If the cathedral is not open you should be able to get one at the place where you are staying tonight. I also stayed at the El Salvador and got one there but I had got one earlier from the cathedral as well. There were bars and cafes open as we were walking out of Oviedo and I am sure you could get one from any of these if the above doesn't work.

I second Davey Boyd. Definitely, easier to get it at the Albergue El Salvador which is a short walk from the Cathedral. And you can always stay there. The cathedral was closed all the time I was in Oviedo... :-(
