I recommend staying your first two nights at a hotel in SJPdP. The first evening you will be exhausted from traveling. The next day, you can make arrangements with Express Bourricot, and tour the delightful French town.
The citizens of this wonderful small town have been feeding, housing and equipping pilgrims heading for Santiago de Compostela for more than 1100 years. So, they have the pilgrim support thing pretty well sorted. Try to make a pilgrim Mass, at 20:00 the night before you walk. IIRC, it is held at the local church at the base of Rue de la Citadel, just before the bridge. it is on the left on your way out of town.
Start out walking the Camino on your second morning there. Use the search function, top right corner of the page, to find out information about SJPdP. You can use Booking.com to locate reservable lodgings.
Why rush...?

Great Suggestion! I’d love to explore SJPD and attend the pilgrim mass. I’m in no rush at all
