OBSOLETE COVID THREAD Flew Vancouver to Madrid July 31

For the information of Canadian travellers, we flew Vancouver to Madrid via Munich on July 31 with no issues.

As of now Spain considers Canada a low risk country so no vaccine or PCR test was required. HOWEVER, even to transit through Germany we had to have proof of vaccination or negative PCR test. We have our vaccinations but, being belt-and-suspenders types, we also did PCR tests in case German authorities didn’t accept the lame vaccination forms our government provides. As it happened German immigration was satisfied with our vaccination forms.

We registered on the Spanish government site 48 hours prior to arrival. We received the QR code to authorize our entry into Spain via email within seconds of registering. Health authorities scanned the code as we debarked in Madrid and that was it.

An interesting side note - the Lufthansa lounge in Munich does not accept guests wearing disposable non-medical masks. Only N95-style masks are allowed.

Thank you for the info. I was aware of the Spanish government website and as I’m also leaving Vancouver on Sept. 2nd and with Lufthansa to Frankfurt via Malaga, I’ll make sure of the mask and my proof of vaccination.

Excellent. So only need to worry about PCR test to get back into Canada upon my return. Thanks for the information. I will be transiting through Munich as well in September.
