For those arriving into Paris with plans to either travel on to SJPdP or stay in Paris...

Sections of Paris are under risk of flooding - one metro line maybe closed, News reports suggest the situation will get worse before getting better

More news affecting other parts of Europe including Germany

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
I saw this on the news. One of the photos gives a bit of misinformation: the Louvre (and Musée d'Orsay) are closed but not because they are flooded. The artifacts and items stored in the basement have been moved up and stored in the upper levels in case the basement gets flooded and they end up destroyed. It's part of their Protection Plan Against Floodings (http://www.musee-orsay.fr/en/home.html; http://www.louvre.fr/en)

The water is really high! The statue of Zouave on the Pont de l'Alma has been, for hundreds of years, used as an informal indicator of the Seine's flood level. When its feet are under water, it usually signals emergency flood precautions. Up to to top of his thighs now....

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Thank you, @jirit for these articles. Prayers for our friends and Forum members (@mspath ?) who may be affected by the floods.
Terry

Thanks for your concern Terry!
My husband and I are at our farmhouse now watching the news from Paris on tv. It has been raining here in Champagne for the past week and the Marne river is very high but not flooding.

If any pilgrim is having problems in Paris due to the flood or strikes please get in touch and I will try to help.

Yesterday the Seine was about 6 mtr. higher than normal. That's a lot of extra wather.
Wish you well, Peter.

I left Paris yesterday, took a bunch of pictures of The Seine on Thursday - very messy, enormous power in that current. Many boats moored/trapped between bridges under which they couldn't fit. I just checked the interwebs. Water levels going down now. I spent 4 weeks in Paris - very overcast and rainy for most of my stay. I arrived back in Sydney last night to continuing rain and unseasonably warm temps. Perhaps there's some pattern to this. Maybe the world's climate is changing!!

I was looking at the wisepilgrim app for the Frances route and noticed that the distances don't always add up from one side to the other. Has anyone else noticed this? Am I being overly observant...
