OK, for those who know Spain well or live there..........

Is it possible to buy a packet of Freeze Dried Rice? What's it called?

This guy has got me thinking :)
No need for a Rice Cooker. Just need a Sushi Roll mat!

He did a 3,000 km thru hike in New Zealand and makes 'no cooking' Sushi rolls.
His other video takes you through his 3KG pack......that includes a shelter!

Make your life easy and eat the very tasty local cuisine!

Tincatinker, thanks for my first laugh of the day!!

Once on the West Coast Trail our designated cook of the evening didn't hike up the tidal river far enough to get fresh water and we ended up with a very, very, very salty rehydrated dinner.

But who gets stuck carrying the table?

Back in the 1960s, while hitch-hiking in Europe, I came upon an American guy who'd had nearly everything stolen - all he had was his passport, the clothes on his back, his 10 speed bike and an old army gas mask haversack.
He was cycling his way to Frankfurt to hitch a flight home with the USAF (dad was an air force general). I offered to stand him a meal but he said he was OK - he was living on a container of rice and some sachets of soy sauce from a Chinese or Vietnamese restaurant plus two bananas and half a baguette every other day(!).
Not suggesting you should follow his regime (the guy was as skinny as hell) but there could be the answer to your rice supply problem - go to the local Chinese takeout and buy your white rice ready cooked from them.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

The subtle differences between a Temaki Cone and a Camberwell Carrot will, usually, only be apparent to regular consumers...
Are you sarf London too?

In 2019 on an archaeological dig I mis-heard somebody use that term but it turned out what they said was a "Garrett Carrot" a metal detecting probe.

Ah Jeff, I remember the days when Tufnell Green was just an address and my grandfather’s Hamsteads spent their nights in a glass by his bed.
Still, let’s try not to derail this thread . There may be those who cannot remember Vesta Beef Curry, or can, but without screaming 😉

A lot of supermarkets in Spain offer pre-cooked rice for microwave use, but it is eatable even without the heat or you can just quickly heat it over a gas bomb... It lasts for days.... Also, it might be worth checking Huel or Mana, they offer some premade food with high-quality macro and micronutrients and also powdered drinks that contain all you need (technically you could live on it), so you can carry 500kcal in 100g of powder that you can then mix with some water. I tested the drinks from both mentioned brands and I carry few portions all the time when I am hiking for few days as a "just in case" option :) They taste alright, I especially enjoy Mana (but some people find the unflavoured version a bit odd), Huel offers flavoured ones so they remind me of protein shake a bit more, also they have more of a dense consistency. Last but not least, the powder is plant-based :)

Sorry I just got shudders from my previous life.
What the heck is a gas bomb?

Ya gotta wait until the tide turns. (LOL) My problem with water from those river sources was the amount of seagull feathers floating in it. You got the feeling birds were doing more than molting in it. Still, with filtration nobody got sick.

No problem with Hampsteads, but I've not heard of Tufnell Green and nor has Google. Please Lucy Date.

Sorry to derail the rice seeking thread further but...

We have made many references to it over the years, but does a camberwell carrot actually exist outside of Withnail & I?
