Details are as follows:
Saturday 5th August
Meet at Marsden station: 10.30am.
Or, if travelling from Manchester: meet at Manchester Victoria station at 9.45am to catch the 9.57 train. Trains back to Manchester from Marsden are hourly at 28 minutes past each hour.
The walk:
We will be following the Marsden Moor Heritage Walk (Yellow route). Distance 8 miles; time 4 - 5 hours. This is a moderate circular walk on Marsden Moor where you can find out about its rich history, from Neolithic man through to the Industrial Revolution.
To have a look at the route, go to https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/marsden-moor-estate/trails/marsden-moor-heritage-walk-yellow-route Please ignore that the blurb says the walk is challenging - this must have been copied from the more difficult walk. THIS WALK IS GRADED AS MODERATE! The route involves some ascent and descent and goes across open moorland so we should bring waterproofs and a packed lunch. A hot drink would be a good idea.
