Yes. Google Translate

and SpanishDict

WordReference is excellent - the app is very good and the online forum is good for phrases and colloquialisms.
I favour the deepl translator (www.deepl.com) over google (much better for translate the meaning of a sentence rather than word for word) but that website doesn’t have an app as far as I know.

Hope this is of help.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

On Apple platform, you can find: ITranslate. Has multiple languages.

Buen Camino
I have ‘itranslate ‘ on my iphone as backup. It’s free and you can switch to almost any language. See it in writing and hear it (voice).

It’s not perfect, but ok. When I’ve used it to help me doing my ‘Duolingo’ lessons ., I find that ‘itranslate ‘ and ‘google translate ‘ sometimes differ as there is never a real ‘right way ‘ to express some thoughts. Even English speakers choose different words or grammar.

But itranslate is a good start. You do need internet though.

It will be interesting to follow here to see what you end up with.

Thanks for your help davebug, much appreciate.

You're welcome. :) As you can see, there is no shortage of good translation tools to choose from. I'm sure you'll be covered for any eventuality. . . except a drained battery. :)

:) It was a bit of a surprise for me, too, when I first started looking. I was amazed that such good tools were available for free use. Who knew? (well, I guess a lot of folks but me :) )

Thanks for your help Ivan-Prad much appreciate.

You are welcome. Hope you find the best that helps your needs.

The only drawback for the one I gave you is, that since it’s free, you need internet connection to make it work. On the other side, they do have one that works offline you pay for it.

Buen Camino

A hospitalera was using an app Translator, which I think is for kids learning Spanish/English, but is perfect for travellers. NOT Translator+, which is really just a dictionary.

Well, a little bit of Dutch might have been useful at Roncesvalles, as I stayed there when the Dutch hospitaleros were in charge. But then, all whom I met seemed to be fluent in English, and who knows how many other languages. That is one gift that makes them helpful to new pilgrims from all over as they begin their caminos.
