French Train Strikes!!!

Holy Year from Pamplona 2010, SJPP 2011, Lisbon 2012, Le Puy 2013, Vezelay (partial watch this space!) 2014; 2015 Toulouse-Puenta la Reina (Arles)
The train strikes in France are irritating but show understanding for the suffering public. The strikes are planned to continue throughout June and possibly beyond, all those hesitant should check here for days when there will be no trains: forewarned is forearmed!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
To those still planning a Camino this year, my advice is to avoid flying in to Paris to get to Saint Jean. That strike could definitely muck up your trip. Fly in to Madrid instead.

Or have an alternate plan...;)
We managed in May, walking and using the train. Oh and renting a car to get from Paris to Geneva when AirFrance was also striking.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
Transport luggage-passengers.
From airports to SJPP
Luggage from SJPP to Roncevalles

Not sure if all that many pilgrims are looking to explore the option of car rental and road trips to Switzerland from Paris in order to get to Saint Jean. That is bound to add a day or so to the travel time on what may be an already tight schedule due to the Camino being done whilst on vacation time from a job.

Is this the same strike that impacted all the folks who flew into France last Sept when I started CF? Sheesh, opt out of that mess and go to Madrid folks. Easy to take train to Pamplona then bus to SJPdP.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
The other option is look on Bla Bla car. More people are offering car sharing on strike days... it's often a lot cheaper and it's a good alternative if you can find one. When I was heading to Burgos last month I had the choice of three to Hendaye/Biaritz/Irun... then you can use buses to move on.
