Hello Fellow Pilgrims - I plan on hiking the Camino del Norte next August (in 2015). I want to start at the Bordeaux Cathedral and hike to the starting point in Irun. Has anyone ever done this route? or has information on where i can find trails/routes to the begining. Thanks!

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
You can walk the GR-655 from Bordeaux to Lesperon or Dax, then cut over to the Voie Littorale on to Bayonne. I do not see any GR paths that really connect the Tours route and the Littorale route, so you might have to pick country roads!

Try these two links as well www.compostelle-landes.org/ www.aucoeurduchemin.org/ The landes link gives two options for crossing over from the Tours route to the Littoral way, one of the options may not have info on it, I have walked on the Littoral and I think where the crossover joins it, you will probably be on asphalt from there to the Spanish border unless you take variants that crop up, it is well way marked as far as Bayonne then gets a bit confusing. The other link aucoeur gives details for the Basque and adjoining areas, if you look through it, it gives a route from SJPDP to Bayonne also other possible options given are St Palais to Bayonne and I think Irun.

Was your route successful? Either way, could you please share your experience from Bordeaux to Irun? Thanks.

I use Alltrails a lot here in the US, in Iceland, on the Via Podiensis and a bit on the CF. Will it be useful on the Norte? For example, people here say the "warm up" from Biarritz to Irun (or...

Tomorrow I fly to Bilbao to start my 5th stint on the Camino. I did the Frances in three parts (2016, 2017 and 2022). Last year I did the Portuguese from Porto. I did the first 200 km of the...
I thought I had this all figured out, but I have ended up with 2 train tickets from San Sebastian (I don't even know if it's the airport or the town) to Irun, instead of ONE that goes all the way...
