We are going to start our way to Santiago the 12th of may from Lourdes. Does anybody do it recently and has any good info to share? THX!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Annie have you a direct link to the Lourdes section? There is a lot of Camino content on your blog. I'm jealous!

The Way from Lourdes is greatly improved from what it used to be, and 2 at least of the best Refugios on the Way are found there, especially the truly magnificent one at Lourdes itself ; and at Arudy, for as long as the cat and his priestly friend shall remain there as Angels of the Way.

The only strong advice I'd give is go via SJPP rather than the Somport -- the Aragon Way is very beautiful, and some parts of the Way there from Arudy or Oloron are memorably sublime ; nevertheless the physical & mental challenge there is not insignificant, and the route is also longer, harder, and takes more time.

It is different for those following the Arles Way that leads there, or those starting at Oloron, because there is a psychological and spiritual continuity for them -- that I've found to be better preserved for a Lourdes & Santiago foot pilgrim by continuing after Lourdes through Oloron to SJPP etc.

Thanks Annie. Do you recommend the Lourdes route? We have decided to walk from St Jean to Lourdes. I'm assuming we shouldn't have too much difficulty in doing it backwards. Do you recommend any particular guidebook?

This is a handy schedule for getting from Lourdes to Dax or Bordeaux. There are local buses from Dax to SJPdP.

Thanks Falcon. We are going to start in SJPdP though and walk to Lourdes.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
