Hello there,

Did any of you sleep in an hostal/hotel (not albergue de peregrinos) in Fuente de Cantos ?
Any recos or comments among Casa Vicenta, Hostal Extremadura and Hotel rural la Fabrica ?

Thanks vm.

There was an albergue in Funte de Cantos in 2008, unless they have closed it. I remember only having to stay in a hostel in Monesterio, Zafra, and one other place because the albergue was closed for that year.

Hi, eze,

I also stayed in the albergue. It's in an old monastery and one half of the building is an albergue, while the other half is a home for disabled boys. I don't know if the two operations are connected or separate. It's not in the center of town but no more than a 5-10 minute walk. We met several others who stayed in pensiones in town and said they were basic and fine -- I don't know which of the places you mention they were in, though. But the albergue had clean sheets, changed daily (!) and hot modern showers with a big patio for hanging clothes. Breakfast was not top notch, but it's a short walk to the next town where there is a great bar with lots of yummy home made food.

Here's a website that lists all accommodations in Fuente de Cantos, with pictures so you can at least see the exterior. http://www.fuentedecantos.net/alojamien ... ientos.htm

Hola
I stayed at Casa Vincente in 2004 and everyone was very friendly, they were all watching the usual football match. I think it cost about 10 euros for a single room (with separate bathroom) and tortilla and vino tinto. All the info I had read made it sound not very good but I thought it fine but basic. I did try another hostel down the road and they were not very friendly.

Thanks vm Laurie and Liz for your contributions.

I have tried to get in contacts with hostels 'Extremadura and Casa Vicenta without any success (no reply).
Same for los Frailes de Zurbaran.
I'll try again !

Hi Eze,

Go to the albergue, you won't regret it. It's not your regular type of albergue. It's first class accommodation, clean, quiet and very friendly.
My first choice was a hostal or pension but I ended up in the albergue by chance and never looked back.

Enjoy!

Hello friends,

I just received a mail from Tourism office of Zafra to whom i had asked information about Albergo Turistico de Fuente de Cantos.
They mention that this Albergo turistico is under "reformas" at moment (reason why i don't get any answer to my mails).
Hope this info will help those having the same questions regarding this lodging in Fuente de Cantos.
