Getting a passport in Lisbon

St James' Way - Self-guided 4-7 day Walking Packages, Reading to Southampton, 110 kms
Hi, Catherine,
You can get a credencial here:

Basílica dos Mártires
Rua Garret, 120
1200-445 Lisboa

Tel.: +351 213 462 465

Weekdays - 9h to19h
Saturday and Sunday - 10h to 20h

The church is in the Chiado/Bairro Alto and very close to the metro stop. The credencial is given out in the church office, which off on the left side of the church. Its hours are somewhat sporadic in spite of this listing, but if the church is open and you are patient, you are likely to find someone who can give it out.

Just a heads up, in case you haven't seen them, there are two online guides to the Caminho Portugues, one handles Lisbon-Porto and the other Porto-Santiago. You can find them on the Confraternity of St. James' website, here: http://www.csj.org.uk/guides-online.htm (and note that there are separate "Sept. 2011 updates" for each guide. The Confraternity asks that you make a donation to contribute to the costs if you can afford it.

Bom caminho! Laurie

Thanks Laurie

I'm about to take the plunge but am on a real shoestring budget and am concerned that I won't find budget options for accomodation. Do you think if I'm willing to mission a bit for accomodation and stay in bombeiros that I will be able to get by on an average of 7 euro's a night for accomodation?

Warm regards Catherine
