Getting back to pre-booked accomodation at the end of a day

Dear All

We are leaving the UK this Friday to walk from Samos to Santiago de Compostela (I wish we had more time but we are leaving school-age kids and jobs so can't take more), we are planning on walking a very gentle 20km a day (my walking partner suffers from a very bad back). We have pre-booked small casas rurales along the way.

We arrive at Samos mid-afternoon on Friday and I thought it might be a nice idea to potter down to Calvor that afternoon. However, we have booked accommodation at Samos, and the following night at Rente.

If we walked 10km on Friday afternoon to Calvor, then get a bus or taxi back to our place in Samos, and then get a bus or taxi back to where we walked to on Friday afternoon the following day, is that OK? What do we do about getting a sello in Calvor - should we explain it there - we don't want anyone to think that we have cheated!

Any thoughts or advice, anyone?

Calvor is somewhat remote, and I doubt that a bus goes there. Even finding a taxi will probably require someone calling for one from Sarria. Walking from Samos to Calvor likely will require a map, as it probably won't be waymarked. The first third of the walk from Samos to Sarria is on roadway. If the weather is bad, you can stay on the road and save a little time and distance into Sarria.

What about walking from Samos back along the Camino via Renche and San Cristobo to Triacastela? Its a lovely walk-for the most part on woodland /riverside paths. Triacastela is a grand little place every pilgrim we met there was on a bit of a 'Camino high' as we had all made it over O'Cebreiro- and I don't think it would be hard to organise a taxi back to Samos. Even if you had to wait a bit in Triacastela you could get your first sello and have a pilgrims meal there?
There a very informal and inclusive evening mass and pilgrims blessing presided over by Fr Augusto Lopez and you can get your sello from him (the church is dedicated to Santiago so their sello is most appropriate!) or, if thats not a fit for you, from one of the albergues or bars.
The next days walk from Samos to Sarria is approx 14 Km if you are being a purist, or you could get a taxi for the first bit (especially the hill after Teixos which, if memory serves me, is a bit of a .......!) and have another nice walk of 10 Km or less into Sarria.

You only have to walk the last 100kms to Santiago to qualify for the Compostela so where you walk or how many taxis or buses you use before then doesn't matter at all.
The 100 km mark from Santiago is at Peruscallo. You need to get two stamps a day during the last 100km and you can get these at cafe-bars, hotels, restaurants, police stations, tourist offices, albergues, churches etc.
