Getting from Santiago de Compostela to Ponferrada?

I have to rejoin my group in Ponferrada and fly there from England on May 30th. I was thinking the easiest way would be to fly from the UK to Santiago de Compostela and then take a train. I have tried the RENFE website but it tells me there are no trains between these two places? I can book a flight that gets into SDC at 10am. Any advice you can give to this first time Camino walker would be most appreciated. I hate that I have to leave the walk and rejoin it, but thats the way it is! I dont mind what time I get to Ponferrada from England on May 30th as long as I get there!!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
I get one train leaving 1006 on the 9th April. You might not get any results for 30 May yet.

Try taking the bus Empresa Freire from Santiago Airport (Labacolla) to Lugo and ALSA from Lugo to Ponferrada. I would confirm details less than 30 days out.

Thanks, you make a good point that the train schedule isn't out yet. I will check out the bus to Lugo. Im grateful for your reply :)

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
I was able to travel by train from Santiago to Ponferrada last June, there was a change of trains involved at Monforte de Lemos, cost was about €19 if I remember correctly, about a 10 minute walk from the train station in Ponferrada to the castle.

Alsa offers direct buses from downtown Santiago de Compostela to Ponferrada.

By train, although the schedule for May 30th isn't uploaded yet, the last direct train departs at 10:06 a.m. so too early for you. If you insist in making the route by train, you could make it changing trains in Ourense.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
