Hola, todo el mundo,
No doubt you have answered this question for other would-be novice camineros in the past, but, please bear with me. I'm presently at a loss as to how to get to the starting point of Camino Frances from the USA.

My issue, as you might well guess, is time and cost efficiency. Is it easier/cheaper to fly into Paris and train it to the starting point or fly to the closest airport and train or bus it from there?

Please deluge me with suggestions.

Many thanks to all in advance.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
I flew into Paris, took a train to Bayonne, bus to St. Jean Pied de Port (at the time, there was no train to SJPdP). If you are starting your camino from another location, then it might be easier to fly into Barcelona or Madrid or Biarritz and then figure out if you are going to need a train or a bus to your starting point.

Hi,

I'm flying to Paris tonight from Hong Kong. Then:

TGV to Bayonne: cost EUR40-80, depends on how early you book it.

TER to St Jean Pied de Port: EUR8.80. Only 3 trains/day in winter, more in summer.

TER schedule:

I managed all the train ticket on this site:
http://www.tgv-europe.com/

Book early (2 weeks at least) if you would like the ticket to be delivered, or you may use the 'pick up at station' option. Mine did NOT arrive within 7 working days and will need to go through a tedious repurchasing-refunding process after my flight of 12 hours.

Tell us more about your planning and there will be more detailed replies.

Buen Camino!
Joseph
