Getting to Fromista

Time of past OR future Camino
June - July, 2018
Hi all,

I had plans to start my walk from Saint Jean Pied de Port, but now it has changed and my original 40-day plan looks like it will be a 26-day trip. I want to leave about two days at Santiago de Compostela and thus thought it would be adequate to start my trip in Fromista instead.

My question is, how should I get from Saint Jean pied de Port to Fromista? It seems like I have to stop multiple times e.g. at Pamplona and/or Burgos. But I'm not sure if the bus times will all work out perfectly for me to get there by less than a day. My trip from Saint Jean Pied de Port was going to start on June 20, 2018, but do you think it will be possible to start in Fromista on June 21? Or would I need more time to travel to Fromista? Also, what would you recommend as the best mode of transportation? and with what company?

Thank you all in advance! Please share your wisdom with me.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Given that St Jean is just a small town in southern France how were you planning to get there? Where are you flying in to and when?
Consider a flight to Madrid and a bus to somewhere where you can reasonably walk to Santiago in your available time. Burgos or Leon would make more sense than Fromista unless you like playing with complex public transport problems.

Brierley's guide has Burgos to SdC a 21 day walk. Extra time if you have it could be spent sightseeing or continue on to Finisterre or Muxia, typically a 3 day walk and one more going between them.

Or walk from SJPdP and rent a bike to cross the meseta.

If you fly into Bilbao take the bus to Burgos and you should make it in 26 days to SdC where are you coming from ? The other suggestion coming through St Jean does not make any sense.

I am thinking of starting my next Camino in Fromista, where I finished last year. I plan to take the bus from Madrid Airport to Burgos, and next day take a bus to Fromista.
