Gluten Free options - Sarria to Santiago

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
Do supermarkets in the towns between Sarria and Santiago generally sell gluten free bread etc?
Not always. I had a student with a gluten allergy last winter and a lot of times there were some gluten free breakfast cakes or cookies. We did not find actual bread. Santiago cake is also gluten free and made of almond flour. There are gluten free noodles in some of the stores.

There is a restaurant in Santiago called Bresca that does have gluten free options for pasta and bread that was quite good.

Hello
I am a Coeliac presently in Palas de Rei, and have walked from SJPDP starting 10 April. I have noticed a chain of supermarket in Galicia, FROIZ SUPERMERCADO, these have been the best throughout the Camino Frances. They consistently have a range of gluten free items including bread. They have also had the healtiest range of "regular" items including fruit and vegetables

Hi, I find Spain quite an easy country to be in as a celiac. Products are clearly labeled and all of the main supermarkets (mercadonia, carrefour) carry some glutenfree stuff (cakes, bread, crackers, wraps, biscuits) and some of their staples are naturally glutenfree: tortilla for one. There's even mainstream glutenfree beer.
