Going back to Le Puy

Hi everyone,
I've read all the topics of this forum before posting this new post ;)
I'm going to start walking the Le Puy route at the end of this month, likely until Cahors or Moissac. My question is: how can I go back to The Puy (where I will leave my car)? I contacted many tourist offices around Cahors, but there's no way to go back there. Train is not an option as it makes me go through Paris. I think the only way is to rent a car. I've found a car rental in Cahors with agencies in both Cahors and Le Puy, but any alternative from your experience would be welcomed...
Many thanks!
Marion

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
I imagine it will be possible by train without going back to Paris, but you might have to take several regional trains. There are trains to Le Puy from either St Etienne, Clermont-Ferrand or Lyon. I know I have used booking offices in train stations in France where they are able to put your start/end points into their computer, and quickly come up with a variety of routes that may involve two or three regional train changes. Maybe you would need to go south via Toulouse, but perhaps there also might be a route that would get you to Clermont-Ferrand via Brive, and from there to Le Puy.

Thanks Margaret. I'm French and you know better than me the possibilities ;) It's true that the official website makes me go to Paris but you're right, always better ask to "local" people how do they manage...
Thanks again,
Marion
