Going into Ourense by the River

I'm reviewing lots of old notes for my Levante/Sanabres coming up in about six weeks, and wanted to jot down the directions for the alternative way into Ourense. On this thread from 2009, several people helped me find a much nicer route into town than the industrial drudgery that the yellow arrows follow. camino-mozarabe-and-via-de-la-plata/topic5483.html

Here's what I reported having done in 2010:

When I got to the Peugeot building, I took a left instead of following the camino sign to the right. Immediately, I was on a lovely river path. Well, I just stayed on the river path (though I had to cross over a busy street at the Ford Motor Co. building, but the river path was right there). I stayed on the path till I got to the end, where the river I was walking on merged into another river. Then a right hand turn, and about 10 minutes walking and I was in As Burgas.

From As Burgas to the albergue is easy, but I didn't take notes.

I would highly recommend this as a soft track, quiet, babbling water alternative to asphalt and industry. You can't miss it if you keep an eye out for the Peugeot building.

buen camino, Laurie

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Thanks Laurie
