Camino del Norte
Hey! Planning to walk camino del Norte in this August and doing some research about guidebooks and mobile -apps. Read some good feedback about Eric Walker guidebooks. So my question is: is it better to use two different guidebooks (part 1 and 2) or should I buy a summary of northen route? Are these books even useful or a must? http://www.csj.org.uk/acatalog/The_CSJ_Bookshop_Pilgrim_Guides_to_Spain_23.html
Or can somebody recommend good mobile-app about northen route?

Thanks :)

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!

I bought two books and have read many more. The book I like best is Hiking the Camino de Santiago by Anna Dintaman and David Landis. Very helpful. I don't suggest Camino by John Brierley. I am not even sure he was out there walking. As to your question do you even need a book. My answer is don't start a trip without a road map. You never know where you might end up.
Buen Camino

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

You MUST make sure you get the updated Eric Walker CSJ guide, done last year by Chris Lennie, fully up-to-date then, and much more readable and clear than the original Eric Walkers, which were typographical nightmares

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

If you read Spanish, I found an app (free) that is sponsored by the Spanish government. It is simple, and has what appears to be reliable information. It is only compatible with tablets, and as opposed to the reviews, it did download and is working. I like the maps which can be used without data access.

Hi Olivia. May I ask the name of the app and where, exactly, you found it?
Thanks

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
I have the Cicerone guide to the Northern Caminos by Laura Perazzoli and Dave Whitson, 2013 reprint (with updates). It seems pretty good but as yet untested as I won't be on the Primitivo until May. My major concern is weight, 385g. As it contains guides to the Norte, Primitivo, Ingles and Fisterra routes there are a lot of pages surplus to my requirements. I may just transcribe the relevant data into my notebook and leave the guide on the coffee table.

We have used the CSJ guides with notes added in from Cicerone rather than cutting pages out of the latter. We'll do the same again this year for the Inglés but will remove the surplus pages from that - then stick them back in on the return home.
Another advantage to paper guides is that you can make notes and also they don't need re-charging or a signal. :)
