I will be in SJPP this Friday night. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good place to eat dinner?

I am booked into orisson the next night so can enjoy a good late meal without worrying about an early start. I am sure that any excess calories will be burnt off walking.
Cheers

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Restaurant Oillarburu - almost built into the old town walls and on the little street at right angles to the church. Good local food and not too expensive. If it is of any interest to you it is also where the first restaurant scene in the movie "The Way" was filmed.
O my goodness! Thank you for that reference to the film, The Way.

Great Caesar's ghost! You're absolutely right! This's where Tom first met the Dutchman! Thank you for pointing that out. I had no idea!

I actually ate there last May, and never make the connection! (Good food, btw.) Now I gotta go back to SJPdeP!

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Another vote for the Bar Brasserie du Trinquet, 7 Place du Trinquet. I've eaten there several times. More popular with locals than pelerins, and very good value.

I highly recommend the albergue Beilari. They have a fantastic communal dinner that is the perfect kickoff to a Camino. You'd better reserve now though. They do get booked up.
You know why the pilgrim tomnorth liked Beilari? Because he met me there!!!!! And now we are friends for life!!!! He is 100% right about Beilari! It's the perfect place to begin your Camino. The dinner Tom and I shared with other pilgrims was just wonderful!

Buen Camino Lyle!

Beilari has my vote too! I have stayed there on 3 caminos and it was a wonderful family atmosphere with great vegetarian food. They will cater gluten free if notified in advance.
