Goodbye Australia, tomorrow I become a pilgrim

Well, the time has come. Tomorrow I fly to Spain to begin a massive adventure. From Barcelona I'll make my way up to St Jean Pied de Port, where my long awaited (6 years) camino starts. I've read so much on this forum, I almost feel like I've done it, yet I know it'll still be nothing like I imagined. I hope I've prepared enough, but like childbirth, when the time comes, you have no choice but to go through with it, and I've had that experience 3 times!

Thank you so much to all those who have contributed words of wisdom, humour and encouragement on this forum. One recent thread tells me I need to buy an Altus raincoat-poncho in Spain. Would I find one in Barcelona? Thanks also to Ivar, I hope to meet up one day in Santiago.

Buen camino to all those other travellers,

Brenda (from Ballarat, Australia)

Coming from Ballarat you should find the weather in Spain at this time of year almost tropical!
Don't forget ear plugs.Good luck.

Thanks everyone, I'm off in a few hours. Looking forward to the "tropical" warmth, we had hail last week. The earplugs are packed!

Brenda and Amy, watch for me. I have a pilgrim forum badge on my blue mochilla and should be hooking up to the Frances about the time you reach Puente la Reina.

Buen Camino

Annie, Amy and Brenda I have no doubts that I will probably run into each of you on the trail. Like Amy, I've got a purple backpack.

Till I catch up, Buen Camino to all
