I came across this android app for the Camino Frances that I love. It allows you to set up a number of different stagings, shows every city, town, and hostel on the route. It shows prices and facilities in every town, city, and hostel.

Shows maps of every town and city with locations of the hostels so you can easily navigate to your chosen bed. Supplies phone numbers and websites for ever hostel on the route.

If you zoom in on a map it shows where you'll find restaurants, hotels, post office, hospitals, ATMs, etc., etc.

It's free and you can make donations. Will have to 'play' with it for a while to uncover all it's wonders.

It is the BEST thing I have found that will help you on your way:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.moemke.android.mycamino

PS I am just a fan of this app and am in no way associated with it.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

I downloaded it some months ago and it is so fantastic. I have been reading it a lot.
But in case, in case...... my mobile break down, I have bought an analog mapbook
on this forum.
Camino de Santiago :
St. Jean Pied de Port - Santiago de Compostela by John Brierley.
It weight only 117 g.
It has detailed maps of every stage and
an elevation map.
Citymaps.
List of Albergues, phonenumbers etc.

I think the App and the Mapbook together will keep one safe on the track.

Buen Camino!!

The app allows you to down load a map that sits on your tablet and doesn't require WiFi but I think your idea is a good one in case you lose your tablet or forget your power converter as I did and your tablet runs out of puff.

I think you might find one if you search in the Google Store or perform an online search.

I used this app for my Camino last year. I really liked it. Am going to use it this week when I start the Camino again. I downloaded the maps so I can use offline.
Buen Camino!

Apparently there is a new app, works with GPS, called Smart Camino. Was told about it by an albergue owner.

Some pilgrims like the Wise Pilgrim App, I normally just used the info found on the Gronze and Eroski websites. Might be also worth looking at the Camino Places App/Website here on the forum, it is relatively new but as more and more people are using it, it will have more info. Buen Camino, SY
