Guide to the Via de la Plata

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Sil, I don't know how you find these things!

This guide is published by the Junta of Castilla y Leon but it includes the entire Via de la Plata, starting in Sevilla. It covers the main variants on the northern part -- the route straight north after Zamora to join the Camino Frances in Astorga and the Sanabres route through Ourense. It also details the southern option through Verin. Though it's in Spanish the symbols and distances are pretty self-explanatory and there are some very nice pictures. Lots of suggestions on lodging, rest areas, things to see, it's really very complete. But it does not give walking directions.

Thanks for letting us know about this, Sil. Laurie

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
I think they've only just put these on their website, as I'm pretty sure they weren't there when I looked last week!

These are tourist guides rather than route descriptions, with lots of info on facilities and places of interest. Nicely presented though.

What Laurie calls "the southern option through Verin" is the Portugese variant via Braganca. It's good to see this is now supported by CyL.

It looks good. I've checked the bit I walked a few months ago. There are one or two accommodation options not listed in it like Casa Teresa in Palacios de Sanabria, so it is definitely still worth asking locals along the way for advice,

Wow... I am quite impressed by it and wish I had it with me when I walked last autumn. Well presented and nice photos. Makes me yearn to walk the whole route again!...

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Great and thanks. I've printed it off and will consider making this the backbone of my guide. Only 26 sleeps to go!
