I'm having cafe con leche in Hontanas, and am wondering if @movinmaggie made it to Santiago for her 80th birthday. Best wishes to her, whether in Santiago or else where!
Yes, I made it to Santiago 31st. A most amazing journey and as many before me have said "friendships for a lifetime". I found so many younger pilgrims who were unbelievably kind to me. Very touching. I'll recap when I get home....thanks again for those on the forum. Maggie

Congratulations on your arrival in Santiago. It is always a great feeling of accomplishment ..along with a sense of loss that the adventure is over.

Many of us share your comments on the commercialization of the Camino Frances.
I am walking it one last time...but in January to perhaps capture some of the "old" CF.

Consider one of the other routes for next year.
I have been walking the other routes over the past 4 or 5 years.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

What a birthday gift! To have arrived in SdeC on your 80th birthday. "Good on you" and blessings.

Congratulations Maggie and wishing you a very happy birthday. Looking forward to reading about your journey in the fullness of time..

For the record, I would extend a huge 'Thank You' to all those at the Pilgrim House who made my birthday extra special with a beautiful and delicious cake arranged by Faith and Nate, which was shared at our 'get together' at one of their regular meetings. It just added to the already wonderful celebration I was having that day…..

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

It was a huge honor for us to celebrate your birthday with you, Maggie! You are really an inspiration and example for us all. Thanks for gracing us with your kind, calm, thoughtful presence. We had a blast getting to know you. Glad you're back in Canada safely and may your 81st year be filled with fun surprises! Un abrazo, Faith

You are NOT 80 Maggie. You are "moving Maggie" and we all wish you an eternity of love, and joyful "moving"

I did have to show my passport one time going through the Seattle airport. The sign read 'Those 79 years of age and older need not remove their shoes, so I didn't. Then proceeded to be questioned harshly by a woman who asked for proof of my age. I do prefer Movin Maggie. Thanks

often when I am out on my training hikes people stop to ask me what I am training for and so I share with them about the camino and THEN I use your experience of arriving in Santiago for your 80th birthday!! ~ I LOVE the look on their faces when I tell them of your very special birthday!! What an inspiration.
