Here I am in Santiago in a hotel by the Cathedral and the harpist has been playing under my window non-stop for 4 hours. Not even a break for a few seconds. If this is what heaven is like, I may opt for the other direction.

Henry Luttrell's idea of heaven was "eating pâté de foie gras to the sound of trumpets". Sartre's idea of hell was "other people".

And there is the long tale of the good soul that arrives in Heaven and finds it a kind, gentle and fulfilling place though there is a large area surrounded by a high wall in which they cannot find a gate. They ask a passing Angel what is behind the wall and the Angel replies: "Oh, thats the [insert your favourite], they think they're the only ones here and we don't like to spoil it for them."
